Dutch Flyer Update

A while back I posted comments about my difficulty getting my Dutch Flyer tickets out of One / Stena. Well, as I reported, I made the booking, and now we've done the trip.
First I need to say we had an absolutely cracking weekend in The Netherlands.
One Railway's service to and from Harwich / Liverpool Street were the only let down - dirty, crowded and just plain unsuitable for people with large amounts of luggage - I have written to them asking if they are proud of their service to international travellers!
Stena have a splendid service, but are taking the mickey with the price of non-alcoholic drinks on their ships - lager is cheaper than tea - work that out!
The reliability of dutch railways is legendary - and all true!
We travelled from Hoek van Holland (Hook of Holland to you) to Leiden by way of Rotterdam - on fast clean comfortable trains.
At Leiden we were able to find left luggage lockers for the case and had a good look round this splendid city - visit Leiden, you'll not regret it (just don't go on Mondays if you want ot go to the museums!).
We travelled to Noordwijk van See by bus - again quick, clean, reliable. We stayed in the Strandhotel on Parrellel Boulevard, which is a very friendly, clean and conveniently situated small hotel - highly commended (even if there are a surplus of elderly German ladies there).
I shouldn't have been surprised, but it seemed that *everyone* in Holland spoke English, which made it an easy weekend.
Noordwijk itself has a huge sandy beach, and plenty of restaurants at most price points - it's a laid back family sort of resort, not at all what we expected - but we were pleasantly surprised.
